Fellow Ukrainians!
Today I had a meeting with the government and other authorized bodies regarding the flood in the west of Ukraine.
The Prime Minister, the Minister of the Interior, and the Head of the State Emergency Service have been there since morning.
We are doing everything possible to minimize and overcome the consequences of this natural disaster.
Hundreds of rescuers, National Guardsmen and police officers are currently involved in the operation. Food, water and basic necessities have been delivered to the people.
Separately, I want to address the people affected by the flood, especially the Ivano-Frankivsk region, as well as Zakarpattia, Lviv, Chernivtsi and Ternopil.
First of all, I would like to express my sincere condolences to the families of the deceased.
I want to assure other affected citizens that the state will not leave you in trouble. We will definitely rebuild damaged roads, bridges and other infrastructure. We will definitely solve the housing issue: either rebuild the destroyed one or find a new one. You will be provided with financial assistance separately. We understand that more than one billion hryvnias may be needed to overcome the consequences, but these funds will definitely be found.
The only thing that is gratifying today is the forecast for the coming days, according to which the level of precipitation and, consequently, water in the rivers will decrease, so we all hope that the situation will not worsen.
In general, in the near future we will consider a full-fledged strategy, involve all experts to solve the problem of floods comprehensively. Forever or at least for decades to come.
To be honest, from the very beginning of the year the country has faced difficult challenges - coronavirus, forest fires, floods.
I am sure we will overcome everything - with your faith and support.
Let’s take care of ourselves! Let’s save Ukraine!
