Enhancing Cooperation in the Long-Range Weapons Production and Ukraine's Path to the EU: the Presidential Office Hosted a Meeting with the State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs of Germany

Deputy Head of the Office of the President Ihor Zhovkva met with State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action of Germany Udo Philipp.

Ihor Zhovkva praised Germany's significant support for Ukraine from the very beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.

“We highly appreciate that Germany is a key donor of assistance to Ukraine in Europe. I would also like to highlight the support of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs for our energy sector worth nearly 350 million euros. We expect that Germany's assistance to Ukraine in all priority areas will continue to expand. This is a matter of our collective European security,” the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office noted.

Special attention was paid to the increased presence of German business in the domestic market. Ihor Zhovkva welcomed the work of joint Ukrainian-German enterprises specializing in the maintenance of military equipment; he also stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in the production of long-range drones and missiles.

Ihor Zhovkva and Udo Philip also addressed the extension of sanctions against the Russian Federation. The Deputy Head of the Presidential Office emphasized the need to increase sanctions pressure and cover all strategic sectors of the Russian economy.

In addition, special attention was paid to Ukraine's preparations for the opening of EU accession negotiations.

“Ukraine is doing everything possible to meet the conditions for EU membership as soon as possible. It will be an important element of Ukraine's victory. We are committed to maintaining high dynamics of the negotiation process, particularly in the area of trade liberalization with the EU. We count on Germany's continued support in this matter,” Ihor Zhovkva concluded.
