On the International Volunteer Day, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the Military Medical Clinical Medical and Rehabilitation Center of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in Irpin’ (Kyiv region).
The President got himself acquainted with the work of the Department of Rehabilitation of Patients with Amputated Limbs and Disabilities, talked informally with servicemen and presented state awards.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also inspected the Department of Physical and Sports Rehabilitation, the equipment used to rehabilitate the Ukrainian military after severe injuries.
After that, the President met with the center's staff and volunteers. The President stressed the crucial role of volunteers in defending Ukraine in the most difficult times.
"I would like to thank all the volunteers. I believe that at the beginning of the war in Donbas, the Ukrainian army was largely built thanks to you. The modern army that we have today," he stressed.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that it was the volunteers who quickly found the national idea that has been searched for Ukraine for many years.
"Volunteers united the whole of Ukraine with their energy and dedication in 2014, protecting it from Russian aggression," the President said.
In his opinion, the state should look up to volunteers in some respects. Volodymyr Zelenskyy promised to pay attention to those issues where the state could help.
