Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak notes that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed the Ukrainian Peace Formula as a way to end the war, as it is impossible to achieve peace acceptable to our country with the current Russian leadership.
Andriy Yermak said this while participating online in the session "Introducing Ukraine’s Peace Formula" at the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.
"Unfortunately, the traditional way to achieve peace is unacceptable in the case of Russia: its current leadership is impossible to negotiate with," he emphasized.
The Head of the President's Office reminded that the Peace Formula presented by the Head of State during his online speech at the G19 Summit in November 2022 is based exclusively on the principles of the UN and international law.
"Our goal is to build a new order that will guarantee security and justice for the entire international community," Andriy Yermak emphasized.
According to him, military and technical assistance to Ukraine should continue to ensure full superiority over Russia on the battlefield and ultimate victory. Further strengthening of the protection of civilian infrastructure and the energy grid from Russian missile attacks is essential.
"This, in particular, should be facilitated by the declaration on an air shield for Ukraine, according to which the guarantor countries will commit to help create a modern multi-level air and missile defense system," the Head of the Presidential Office noted.
Andriy Yermak emphasized that the points of the Peace Formula are related to the issues that have become challenges for humanity today because of the Russian war against Ukraine. These include threats to use nuclear weapons against a non-nuclear state and threats to the safety of nuclear power plants, the use of famine as a weapon, energy security, huge environmental damage, abuse and torture of captured military and civilians and mass forced deportations, a huge number of war crimes and war damage.
The Head of the Presidential Office is convinced that peace is not just the absence of hostilities, but also confidence based on justice.
"If these criteria are not met, we will simply get a war put on hold. The aggressor country will get a break and time to regroup its forces before the next venture," he said.
That is why Ukraine proposed the draft Kyiv Security Compact, which was developed by an international expert group co-chaired by Andriy Yermak and former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
In general, as the Head of the President's Office noted, the results of this war must be recorded, and for this purpose, the points of the Peace Formula must be integrated into the system of international documents and become the basis of a new global security structure.
"It is very important that as many countries as possible support this plan. After all, if Russia is isolated, it will change the situation in the world - along with Ukraine's successes on the battlefield," he said during a conversation with the session moderator.
According to Andriy Yermak, it is very important that support and assistance to Ukraine is increasing and that our partners believe that our country will not just survive, but will win.
He noted that today is a crucial time, and Ukraine needs appropriate assistance, especially weapons, as all its partners are well aware.
The Head of the President's Office also emphasized that it is unacceptable for Ukraine to win without the full restoration of its territorial integrity.
