Zaporizhzhia Region and Pennsylvania State Concluded a Cooperation Agreement

During his visit to the United States, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Governor of Pennsylvania Josh Shapiro, as well as with Senator of this state Bob Casey and Congressman Matt Cartwright.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for regional cooperation between Ukraine and the United States.

“I thank the leaders of the American states for their willingness to develop regional cooperation with Ukraine. The implementation of joint economic projects will help restore the destroyed infrastructure and create jobs,” the Head of State noted.

In the presence of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ivan Fedorov, Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, and Josh Shapiro signed an agreement on cooperation between the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The agreement provides for interaction between state authorities, scientific institutions, civil society organizations and businesses. The main areas of cooperation include energy, agriculture, digital technologies, and defense. The agreement will also contribute to the reconstruction of the Zaporizhzhia region.

The State of Pennsylvania is home to more than 150,000 Ukrainians and Americans of Ukrainian descent.

“Weapons and military equipment production is also located here. This area is an absolute priority for Ukraine. We will be grateful for increased cooperation in this area,” the President stressed.

Five agreements have already been concluded between Ukraine's regions and the U.S. states. Previously, such documents were signed between the Kyiv region and the State of Washington, between the Kyiv region and the State of Utah, between the Zhytomyr region and the State of Indiana, and between the Chernihiv region and the State of Minnesota.
