Escalation in Nagorno-Karabakh shows that any frozen conflict could flare up again even after many years - President

Ukraine calls on Armenia and Azerbaijan to de-escalate the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. There can be no question of providing military assistance by Ukraine to any of the parties to the conflict, as stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a conversation with media representatives in Chernivtsi.

"We have a clear and, I think, balanced and correct position as a state: we call for dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia and for the de-escalation of this conflict," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

According to him, the events of recent days and the new escalation in Nagorno-Karabakh once again demonstrate that any frozen conflict can flare up again, even after many years. Therefore, conflicts must be ended, not frozen.

"I believe that there can be no frozen conflicts, because it does not matter - sabotage or provocation, there will still be an explosion, even when thirty years have passed since the beginning of the war somewhere on our planet," the Head of State added.

The President noted that in recent years Ukraine and Azerbaijan have established close relations at both economic and geopolitical levels. That is why Ukraine has adhered and will adhere to the position of supporting this state.

At the same time, he stressed that the decisions on providing or not providing military, humanitarian or any other assistance to foreign states are the sole competence of the President and the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, not people's deputies or anyone else.
