At the initiative of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Cabinet of Ministers is preparing to present the procedure for insurance payments to the families of deceased and affected health workers struggling with the COVID-19 epidemic. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a traditional conference call on preventing the spread of coronavirus chaired by Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Relevant resolutions will be considered tomorrow in order to start payments in the near future.

According to the Prime Minister, payments will be made depending on whether the health worker got infected directly counteracting coronavirus, or in other circumstances. This, inter alia, includes payments in the amount of UAH 1 million 576 thousand to the families of health workers in case of their death from coronavirus, which they caught while performing professional duties, UAH 210 thousand if a health worker fell ill and died not during his work with COVID-19 patients, as well as payments to health workers in case of disability caused by coronavirus infection.

"Coronavirus continues to bring new victims, and we must act just as quickly, so we are simplifying the bureaucracy to actually help the families of the dead and affected," he said.

Also, pursuant to the President's instructions, the number of suburban electric trains in the Kyiv region was increased yesterday and loudspeakers reminding about observance of personal protection measures were installed, thanks to which large crowds were avoided at stops and more passengers began to wear masks. Relevant videos from different stops were demonstrated at the meeting by Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Krykliy.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy set a task to intensify negotiations in the international arena on cooperation in the purchase of a COVID-19 vaccine if it is produced.

"Ukraine should have access to the vaccine on an equal footing with other countries as soon as it is produced. We have good relations with the European Union. Please closely monitor the development of the coronavirus vaccine and keep Ukraine high on the agenda," the President said.
