The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is increasing its support for vulnerable categories of Ukrainians. Representatives of the fund announced this during a meeting with Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
Specifically, assistance will continue for families with children living within a 30-kilometer zone of the front line in seven regions. These families will receive 21,800 UAH to prepare for winter.
Over 103,000 people, including 44,000 children, have already received payments, and this number is expected to grow. Additionally, nearly 5,000 families have been provided with household fuel.
Another program will also continue, providing one-time payments of 10,800 UAH to families with children who have evacuated from communities in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions where mandatory evacuation has been declared.
Furthermore, the number of schools in frontline areas receiving financial grants from UNICEF to upgrade kitchen facilities and prepare for winter will increase from 350 to 800.
Iryna Vereshchuk expressed gratitude to Munir Mammadzade, Head of the UNICEF Country Office in Ukraine, for the support provided to hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian families with children. She also called for further deepening of cooperation.
