Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Yulia Sokolovska held a meeting with Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine Maciej Janczak and his team.
Yulia Sokolovska expressed words of gratitude to Maciej Janczak for their cooperation and congratulated him on his appointment as Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine in September of this year.
The Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine highlighted the success of their joint efforts, particularly in creating a barrier-free environment in Ukraine, initiated by First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska as part of the "Without Barriers" project. Thanks to fruitful work, including the involvement of Advisor, Presidential Commissioner for Barrier-Free Environment Tetiana Lomakina, the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine by 2030 was developed and adopted.
Due to the full-scale war with Russia in our country, the number of people with disabilities is increasing. Therefore, it is necessary to support their self-realization, career development, their involvement in social and public life, and remove possible obstacles along this path. In particular, based on Polish experience, a bill has been developed, "On Amending Certain Laws of Ukraine to Ensure the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to Work," which will be a significant step towards accessibility in Ukraine.
Work is also ongoing to develop the Social Code of Ukraine, which will change the current social security system in accordance with Ukraine's obligations to implement the Revised European Social Charter.
On his part, Maciej Janczak outlined future plans for further support to Ukraine, including assistance in its recovery and development.
