Europe Must Demonstrate Its Ability to Defend Itself – Ihor Zhovkva

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva met with Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Julius Pranevičius.

Ihor Zhovkva thanked Lithuania for its support of Ukraine in countering Russian aggression, in particular for the decision to allocate 0.25% of GDP annually as military assistance to our state.

The Deputy Head of the Presidential Office informed Mr. Pranevičius about the outcomes of recent meetings of national security and defense advisers held in Paris and London.

The parties coordinated their positions on joint steps to strengthen European security and to establish a just and sustainable peace in Ukraine.

“Every voice of a European state matters. Europe must demonstrate its ability to defend itself and uphold security on the continent,” Ihor Zhovkva emphasized.

Special attention was paid to Ukraine’s European integration. The Deputy Head of the Office of the President noted that our state has fulfilled all necessary commitments to open the first negotiating cluster.

“European partners must demonstrate unity in this process, and no individual state should block the decision to advance Ukraine’s accession,” he added.

Julius Pranevičius reaffirmed Lithuania’s unwavering support for our country, including in advocating for Ukrainian interests across all international platforms and in all relevant formats.
