Euro-Atlantic Integration, Defense Support and Energy Security: Ukrainian Delegation Met with Jake Sullivan

During the visit to the United States, Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna, Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov, and Minister of Energy German Galushchenko held a productive round of consultations with the American delegation led by U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.

During the meeting, they summarized the results of the first Peace Summit and coordinated steps for the coming weeks and months for the concrete implementation of its outcomes and the preparation for the second Peace Summit.

The parties discussed in detail the practical steps for implementing the provisions of the bilateral security agreement signed by the Presidents of Ukraine and the United States during the G7 Summit, as well as other issues of bilateral cooperation.

Special attention was paid to Euro-Atlantic integration, defense support, and energy security, with each of these areas being discussed in detail.

Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna outlined Ukraine's main expectations from the NATO Summit in Washington, emphasizing the importance of decisions that will contribute to building defense capabilities.

Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov emphasized the urgent need to bolster our air defense and increase the number of air defense systems and missiles, and the two sides discussed upcoming air defense deliveries to Ukraine. It is important for our soldiers to receive new systems from our partners as soon as possible.

Special attention was given to U.S. support for Ukraine’s energy security. Minister of Energy German Galushchenko informed the attendees about the consequences of Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure and Ukraine's needs in this area. They discussed the protection of the Ukrainian energy system, the accelerated implementation of distributed generation, and the provision of backup power to critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine, particularly in the context of preparing for the upcoming winter. 

Andriy Yermak emphasized the strong and unwavering partnership between Ukraine and the United States.
