Volodymyr Zelenskyy: There is certainty that Ukraine will be in NATO

At the NATO Summit in Vilnius, Ukraine received assurances from its partners that their support in the fight against Russia will continue and that our country will become a member of the Alliance as soon as the security situation allows. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a meeting with representatives of Ukrainian and foreign media following his visit to Lithuania and participation in the Summit.

"The most important thing is that we equally understand the conditions when and how Ukraine will join NATO. Maybe not all the details are communicated, but for me it was very important that there is certainty that Ukraine will be in NATO, that no one will trade NATO membership with anyone. That this is a real political decision based on the security situation in Ukraine," the Head of State said.

The President noted that he trusts partners and allies who help Ukraine win the war unleashed by Russia. According to him, at the meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council, our state received powerful support from more than thirty countries.

"I believe that we will be in NATO as soon as the security situation is stabilized. In simple terms: when the war is over, Ukraine will definitely be invited to join NATO and Ukraine will definitely become a member of the Alliance. I have not heard any other opinion today," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

In addition, according to the President, Ukraine has received powerful confirmations of defense assistance.

The Head of State called the support for security guarantees for Ukraine by the allies and the adoption of the relevant Joint Declaration the third important achievement.

"In this declaration, we have kept one very important point - the fact that it says that these are security guarantees on Ukraine's path to NATO," he emphasized.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that during his talks with state leaders, he discusses in detail the situation in Ukraine and the issues that may slow down or complicate certain processes.

"I believe that our team has done this: we have conveyed all these important details. Therefore, the support will not decrease. At least that's what our partners said," he said.

The President also emphasized that Ukraine would never agree to any political status in exchange for giving up its territories.

"We will not give up our territories and will never exchange them for any "frozen conflict". This will never happen. Our partners are well aware of my position," the Head of State summarized.
