While in the Rivne region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with students of the National University of Ostroh Academy.
First and foremost, the President expressed his gratitude to 30 student volunteers from the university who are currently fighting on the front lines to defend Ukraine’s independence.
“The fact that so many volunteers – true patriots – have stepped up to defend our country shows that you also have to safeguard the spirit of Ostroh Academy. Of course, education is critical, but I believe the energy and spirit here are just as important,” Volodymy Zelenskyy said.
During his conversation with students, the President outlined Ukraine’s stance on ending the war, securing a just and lasting peace, and preserving its independence.
“There is education, there is energy, there is gas, there are weapons, there is your fleet, not their fleet on your territory, in your waters. And much, much more. The economy and the army are two important things. When your economy does not depend on Russia or any challenges, you are independent. And when you have an army that is independent of any influence. That is what we are fighting for,” the Head of State emphasized.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed the importance of maintaining unity among Ukraine’s partners, particularly the U.S. and Europe, to ensure that law prevails over force in global affairs. He noted that in every discussion with allies, Ukraine emphasizes the need for a unified position and strong security guarantees – not just for Ukraine, but for the entire world.
“We need this alliance – first and foremost, we must preserve and strengthen it. Then, we must understand how this war will end and what security guarantees will be in place for the entire world. Because in modern warfare, distance no longer matters. When missiles and drones fly thousands of kilometers, you can fight a country that is two or three thousand kilometers away,” the President said.
