During an official visit to Slovakia, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the Ukrainian community in Bratislava.
The Head of State noted the activity of Ukrainians in Slovakia.
"It is very nice, being abroad, to know that there is a strong Ukrainian spirit of ours, which protects Ukraine. And you can always say "Glory to Ukraine!" and hear "Glory to the Heroes!" here, in the embassy, and on the streets,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
The President noted that Ukrainians who preserve and spread Ukrainian culture, history and heritage while living abroad are also heroes.
"I am very grateful to you for everything you are building," the President said.
According to him, the activities of the Ukrainian community in Slovakia contributed to building warm and friendly relations between the two countries, and this attitude to Ukraine is felt during the current official visit to the Slovak Republic, during the meeting with President Zuzana Čaputová and other government officials.
"It is impossible to build in one visit of the President, it is impossible to build only due to the work of our embassy, although it helps a lot. It is important how well they treat Ukrainians in Slovakia, our really sincere and hard-working people who today create the authority of Ukraine abroad. I am very grateful to you for that," Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
The President said that today, during all the talks, he raised an important issue of preserving Ukrainian schools in Slovakia, the number of which has sharply decreased.
"We have agreed that the schools will be preserved. Some parliamentarians of the Slovak Republic said they would do everything to preserve our culture, history and restore a number of Ukrainian schools," the President of Ukraine added.
Also, according to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the issue of the Ukrainian Cultural Center was discussed during the negotiations.
