On June 26, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Madeleine Moon.
During the meeting, a wide range of issues of cooperation between Ukraine and the North Atlantic Alliance was discussed, in particular the implementation of reforms aimed at bringing Ukraine closer to NATO standards.
The parties also touched upon the settlement of the situation in east Ukraine in the framework of the Minsk format, the return of the Russian delegation to the PACE and the necessity of the release of captive Ukrainian sailors.
The Head of State confirmed the immutability of the strategic course of Ukraine for integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures.
He also thanked the NATO Parliamentary Assembly for its strong and solid support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope that the observers of the Parliamentary Assembly would be present at the extraordinary elections to the Verkhovna Rada on July 21, as it is important for Ukraine.
"These elections are not only the request and demand of our society. This is not just my political decision to dissolve parliament. Most importantly, besides the request of society, this is a significant number of reforms and bills that our country needs, and the impossibility of their adoption by the current Verkhovna Rada," the Head of State said.
