During his working visit to Germany, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The Head of State thanked Germany and the German people for their significant and comprehensive assistance to our country. Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Germany had provided temporary protection to more than a million Ukrainians – the largest number among European countries.

The leaders discussed the security situation in Ukraine and the current needs of our country against the backdrop of Russian attacks on the Ukrainian energy sector and active hostilities along the entire frontline.

The President of Ukraine thanked Germany for hosting and organizing this year's Ukraine Recovery Conference.

"We highly appreciate Germany's pan-European leadership and all the assistance provided to Ukraine. Following the Ukraine Recovery Conference, we look forward to concrete agreements and results for economic development, foreign investment inflows and elimination of the consequences of large-scale destruction caused by Russian aggression,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The two leaders discussed Ukraine's expectations from the inaugural Peace Summit, which should result in the implementation of the three points of the Ukrainian Peace Formula. The Head of State noted the participation of Germany in the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children Illegally Deported by Russia.

They also reviewed the partnership between Ukrainian and German cities and communities. The Presidents took it under joint patronage in October 2022. At the same time, Frank-Walter Steinmeier paid special attention to the reconstruction of the Chernihiv region.
