President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Prime Minister of Slovakia Eduard Heger who arrived on a visit to our country to participate in the Bucha Summit.
Welcoming the head of the Slovak government to Kyiv, the Head of State emphasized that he is always welcome in Ukraine.
"On behalf of our people, I thank you for the support that you, your government and the President of Slovakia, as well as ordinary people have provided to Ukraine during such a difficult and challenging year," the President noted.
During the meeting, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Eduard Heger discussed in detail the issue of countering Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine and further cooperation between Kyiv and Bratislava both at the bilateral level and on international platforms.
The President of Ukraine thanked Slovakia for the recent significant package of security support, which included MiG-29 aircraft and air defense equipment.
"Increasing the capabilities of our defenders on the frontline is our number one priority," he emphasized.
Special attention was paid during the meeting to the implementation of the Ukrainian initiative regarding the Peace Formula. The Head of State noted that Ukraine is working with a wide range of partners to prepare for the global peace summit. The importance of Slovakia's full support for the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine and willingness to participate in its implementation was noted.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Eduard Heger exchanged views on topical issues of the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine.
The Head of State emphasized that the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU will be an important signal of support for Ukrainian society.
"We count on active facilitation from Slovakia on this path," he said.
The interlocutors touched upon the issue of Slovakia's involvement in the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the urgent challenge for our country is the speedy restoration of social infrastructure in the de-occupied territories.
"The reconstruction of kindergartens, schools and medical institutions is important for the return of citizens to the liberated territories," the President emphasized.
In this context, the Head of State thanked Slovakia for providing shelter to Ukrainians who were forced to seek salvation from the war.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Eduard Heger also discussed the bilateral dialogue measures for the near future.
