During his working trip to the Chernihiv region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the heads of territorial communities.
“It is important that you are here today, as well as on all the days of the fight for the Chernihiv region. I would like to thank all the heads, all the citizens of Ukraine, residents of the Chernihiv region for saving the Chernihiv region,” the Head of State stated.
The Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, Viacheslav Chaus, reported that Russia is shelling the region every day. Since the beginning of the year, two civilians have been killed and 26 others wounded as a result of enemy attacks. He also added that 81% of the destroyed infrastructure facilities have already been rebuilt or are being restored.
The meeting also addressed Ukraine's efforts to establish a just and sustainable peace and obtain reliable security guarantees.
“We will inevitably achieve a just peace; we have many different strategies in place. But what truly matters is that we remain strong at the negotiating table,” the President noted.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy specifically underscored that security guarantees must include economic ones. After all, they will be aimed, among other things, at the recovery of the affected regions.
The participants also discussed support for entrepreneurs and the implementation of business support programs. The Head of State called on representatives of the Chernihiv regional communities to propose initiatives that would foster business development in the frontline areas.
Other important topics included the provision of free meals for schoolchildren, an increase in the number of school buses procured, and the construction of shelters in schools and kindergartens. The President shared that he would discuss the issue of subventions for the construction of additional shelters in the frontline regions with the Prime Minister.
