President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Federal Minister of Defense of Germany Boris Pistorius, who is on a visit to Ukraine.
The Head of State emphasized the importance of the visit of the German Defense Minister to Kyiv on the 10th anniversary of the beginning of the Revolution of Dignity.
"This is a historically important day for Ukraine and Europe. Thank you for being with us on this day," the President emphasized.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for Germany's significant defense support for Ukraine and the decision to allocate another aid package worth EUR 1.3 billion. The Head of State also praised the role of Chancellor Olaf Scholz in mobilizing international support for Ukraine and strengthening the protection of Ukrainian skies before the winter period.
The interlocutors discussed the priority needs of Ukrainian defenders, in particular in the context of ensuring the protection of an alternative "grain corridor" in the Black Sea.
The parties also discussed further practical steps to bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities with the support of Germany, including the transfer of air defense equipment, armored vehicles, artillery, and ammunition.
The parties paid special attention to the prospects of enhancing cooperation in the defense industry and the possibility of launching joint production of certain types of weapons.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of the recent start of negotiations with Germany on the conclusion of a bilateral agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine.
The parties also exchanged views on the bilateral political dialogue in the near future.
