Volodymyr Zelenskyy heard the report of the emergency response team on the crash of the Ukrainian aircraft in Iran

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting of the emergency response team on the crash of the Ukraine International Airlines plane in Iran.

The Ukrainian team of 45 specialists is already working to investigate the causes of the tragedy. The aircraft is inspected and the DNA of relatives of the dead is collected to identify the bodies and repatriate them. Material from relatives of 9 of 11 victims of the tragedy has already been collected. Material of the other two will be collected shortly when the logistical issues are resolved.

In addition, the President of Ukraine holds consultations with international partners. On January 9, Volodymyr Zelenskyy had phone conversations with the Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom and Sweden, Presidents of Iran and Afghanistan. A phone conversation is also scheduled with the Prime Minister of Canada and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. The Head of State emphasizes that Ukraine is interested in a transparent and objective investigation.

The participants of the meeting emphasized that the investigation was at an early stage. Hence, details cannot be provided yet. Several versions of the causes of the plane crash are considered.
