President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed Decree № 403/2020 on the establishment of a professional holiday in Ukraine - the Day of Winegrower and Winemaker, which will be celebrated every year on the second Sunday of November. The Head of State announced this during a working trip to Zakarpattia.
Speaking at the presentation of the Development Strategy of the Zakarpattia region until 2027, the President noted that this region has good potential in the production of organic products, in particular in viticulture and winemaking.
"This is an important component for agriculture, important for infrastructure and jobs in rural areas. Today I signed a decree establishing an official holiday in Ukraine - the Day of Winegrower and Winemaker. I know it was important for the people who work in this field. This is a symbolic step that highlights respect for this profession," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The Head of State also noted that the government and the relevant ministry should present a set of measures for the development of Ukrainian viticulture and winemaking.
"We often talk about “economic nationalism”. Let's make sure that the wine of Zakarpattia, Odesa, Kherson and, of course, Crimea is not inferior to Italian, Spanish and French wines in terms of quality and popularity,” the President emphasized.
