Volodymyr Zelenskyy calls on Polish business to invest more actively in Ukraine's economy

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy together with President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda took part in the Ukrainian-Polish Economic Forum in Odesa. The Ukrainian President called on Polish business to invest more actively in the Ukrainian economy and join the privatization of state-owned enterprises.

In his speech at the forum, the Ukrainian President noted that the volume of foreign direct investment from Poland today reaches more than $ 800 million, and trade turnover between our countries last year amounted to almost $ 8 billion. According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Poland is the world's second largest market for Ukrainian exports.

"Prerequisites for successful business have been created and they are quite strong between our countries," the President of Ukraine said.

He noted that the issues of transport and infrastructure are very important and relevant for both Ukraine and Poland.

According to the President of Ukraine, to stimulate investment, one can also use the mechanisms laid down, in particular, in the law on concessions.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that improving the investment climate and protecting the rights of investors is one of the priorities for him and his team.

"We are building equal and uniform rules of the game for all. We ensured the effective and independent work of anticorruption bodies and launched the Supreme Anticorruption Court," he added.

The President noted that today Ukraine is passing laws that society and our international partners have been waiting for for decades. In particular, large-scale privatization and digitization of the country is underway.

"Today, you can start your own business in less than half an hour, using your gadget, your computer. And recently the law on state support for projects with significant investments, the so-called law on “investment nannies”, was adopted in the first reading,” the President of Ukraine said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy assured that Ukrainian state agencies and business associations are ready to help Polish business in intensifying regional cooperation.

"Successful Polish business in Ukraine and Ukrainian business in Poland is a signal to everyone who is watching, who doubts or who is waiting for better times. In my opinion, the current period is a window of new opportunities and prospects for joint business projects between our countries," the President of Ukraine emphasized.

Polish President Andrzej Duda stressed that without good infrastructure it is impossible to build mutual cooperation, including trade and economic one.

"Of course, the modernization of logistics infrastructure is our development. Improving roads will increase trade turnover both at sea and on land," Andrzej Duda said.

According to him, Ukrainian activity in many transport projects is observed in Poland.

"And we will support Ukraine's ambitions in the development of Ukraine as a transit country in Eastern Europe," the President of Poland concluded.
