Volodymyr Zelenskyy: I want local elections to be won by people who can “raise” the region

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that the results of local elections should bring to power people who can solve the problems of their city or region.

During a meeting with business representatives in the framework of a working trip to the Poltava region, the Head of State urged entrepreneurs to offer him credible candidates who can participate in local elections.

"I want to talk to you about the people you respect. It is important to me, especially for local elections - what kind of people do you consider flagships who can run for election, who are respected by locals,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, speaking to business representatives of the Poltava region.

The President stressed that he was ready to meet with such people already during his current trip to the region.

According to him, these are not necessarily businessmen - both industrialists and members of the public can become candidates.

"These people should make lists and say: we have five, ten people, we trust them, they are Poltava residents, they love this region, this city," the Head of State said.

"I want people who can "raise" a city or region win the local elections," the President added.
