President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the Medical Center of the National Guard of Ukraine "Novi Sanzhary" in the Poltava region, where the observation of Ukrainians and foreign citizens evacuated from the Chinese city of Wuhan ended.
No coronavirus disease was detected in any person who came from China, so they can all return to normal life.
The Head of State met with the citizens near the building where they were staying. Volodymyr Zelenskyy wished all those present health and congratulated them on the fact that they all completed the observation with a well-being. He thanked the evacuees for their patience and for the fact that they courageously withstood the quarantine and all the events associated with it.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also thanked the doctors, the employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the National Guard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Head of the Poltava Regional State Administration, and the Ministry of Health. "Well done, they did really well," the President said.
In addition, the Head of State thanked the crew of the aircraft, which evacuated the citizens from China and was also sent for observation.
During his communication with journalists at the territory of the medical center, Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine had never faced the need to evacuate its citizens from other countries because of the epidemic. But all agencies carried out a well coordinated work and coped with the situation.
“They all united very quickly - SES, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, from us - the regional state administration. Not everything was good with other law enforcement agencies, which were supposed to work,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
"You know there was an artificial blocking. Unfortunately, this information was received by the National Guard later than planned. It means that someone has underfulfiled his task,” the President added.
The Head of State also assured that people who had been hospitalized in Chernivtsi with suspected coronavirus disease were provided with all the necessary conditions.
Due to the spread of the virus in the world, the President urged Ukrainians to make fewer foreign visits and focus on domestic tourism.
“Compared to many European countries, we have the least number of cases, and we control it. We have a wonderful country, we have many places where you can rest properly until this story is over,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
During his visit to the medical center, the President found out that there is a birthday celebrant among those who finish the observation today – a Ukrainian, a fencing coach for children, 28-year-old Yevhen Statsenko.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated the man on his birthday and a successful completion of the quarantine, and presented the watch.
