For eight months, the owners of the Delfi ship have not been removing the sunken tanker from the beach of Odesa and have not been allowing the state to perform the relevant work. In addition, the company did not take measures to prevent contamination of the water area with petroleum products. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy when talking to the media during a working trip to the Odesa region.
"Congratulations to all - the Delfi tanker is no longer on the beach. We overcame this story," the Head of State said.
According to the President, local authorities were unable to cope with this issue. He thanked all those who helped resolve the situation, including the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Seaports Administration, divers and rescuers.
"It's been 50 days. The work was for 30 days. I understand that it is a long time, but in general, if we take the period in which the state managed to tow the tanker, I think it was fast," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
