President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors at ArcelorMittal Lakshmi Mittal.
The parties discussed the development of "green" metallurgy and the increase of investments in Ukraine, taking into account environmental characteristics in accordance with international standards.
The President stressed the need to introduce the latest steelmaking technologies that will reduce the negative impact of industry on the environment.
As the largest foreign investor in Ukraine and one of the largest steel producers in the world, the company will launch a "Steel Billion" investment program in our country, providing for an investment of almost one billion dollars in the eco-modernization of steel production in Kryvyi Rih.
"Investment in the Ukrainian economy and environment is a positive signal for all investors to whom we will provide comprehensive support," Volodymyr Zelenskyy assured.
The President stressed the urgent need to complete the modernization of by-product coking, sintering and blast furnace production, which are the biggest polluters. The company has confirmed its readiness to complete this program by the end of 2023.
The meeting was also attended by First Aide of the President Serhiy Shefir, Deputy Heads of the Office of the President Ihor Zhovkva and Yulia Svyrydenko, Director of Helios JSC Rostyslav Shurma, CEO of ArcelorMittal CIS Vijay Goyal, CEO of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih Mauro Longobardo.
