President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol.
The Ukrainian leader expressed his gratitude for the consistent support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, for all the financial and humanitarian assistance already provided and announced.
During the conversation, the parties discussed the involvement of the North Korean military in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“We consider the participation of North Korean servicemen in Russia's invasion of Ukraine as the internationalization of the war and its expansion beyond the borders of the two states,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
The President of Ukraine provided information about the deployment of 3,000 North Korean troops to Russian training grounds in the immediate vicinity of the area of hostilities and the expected increase in their number to about 12,000.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Yoon Suk Yeol agreed to intensify the intelligence and expertise exchange, to strengthen contacts at all levels, including the highest, to develop an action strategy and a list of countermeasures in response to the escalation, and to engage mutual partners in cooperation.
Under the agreement, Ukraine and the Republic of Korea will soon exchange delegations to coordinate actions.
The Head of State also invited South Korea to join the G7 Vilnius Declaration on bilateral security agreements in support of Ukraine.
