President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with President of Poland Andrzej Duda.
The Heads of State continued coordination of actions aimed at overcoming the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic for the citizens of both states. Particular attention has been paid to the quarantine exit mechanisms and international cooperation to address such challenges in the future.
“I am aware of your recent initiative to step up cooperation between European countries in order to effectively address such challenges in the future. Ukraine is ready to participate actively in the preparation and implementation of coordinated activities. By the way, your proposal to create a European medical security mechanism is in line with our idea of an international mechanism for overcoming the effects of coronavirus,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
The Head of State thanked Poland for the medical equipment provided to Ukraine, as well as for the financial assistance from the European Union. Andrzej Duda praised the contribution of Ukrainian aviation to the transportation of medical goods for the international fight against the pandemic.
The Polish President assured of the continued support for Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic integration. The prominent role of the representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the command of the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade was separately noted.
An important topic of discussion was cooperation between Ukraine and Poland in the field of energy security, in particular regarding the diversification of sources of energy supply and practical implementation of the tripartite memorandum of cooperation in the energy sphere between Ukraine, Poland and the USA signed in August 2019.
The President of Ukraine informed his Polish counterpart about the situation in Donbas and the implementation of the agreements reached during the Normandy summit held in Paris last year. Andrzej Duda assured that Poland adhered to a clear position as regards support for the restoration of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy wished Andrzej Duda success in organizing elections in Poland, the first round of which is scheduled for May 10. The leaders agreed to continue regular contacts.
