Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone call with the Prime Minister of Japan

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone call with Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida.

The Head of State thanked Fumio Kishida for Japan's support in organizing his recent visit to Hiroshima to participate in the G7 Summit. Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated the Japanese presidency on the successful results of the G7 Summit, which, in particular, adopted important decisions on further consolidation of international support for Ukraine in countering Russian aggression.

The President informed the Prime Minister of Japan about the consequences of Russia blowing up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant and his visit to the southern regions of Ukraine that ended up in the disaster zone.

"The aggressor has caused a large-scale man-made, environmental and humanitarian catastrophe. This is a deliberate act of terrorism and another war crime of Russia," the Head of State emphasized.

He also noted that the destruction of the hydroelectric power plant poses a threat to the safety of the Zaporizhzhia NPP due to the decrease in the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir.

Fumio Kishida expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people over the disastrous consequences of the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant. He said that the Japanese government is preparing a humanitarian aid package for Ukraine based on the list of priority needs submitted by the Ukrainian side.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed Fumio Kishida about the situation on the frontline and Russia's further intensification of missile terror against Ukraine. He emphasized that the targets of Russian attacks are civilian infrastructure and peaceful cities.

The interlocutors discussed further involvement of Japan's security support, in particular, practical cooperation in the field of humanitarian demining.

The parties exchanged views on ways to implement the Ukrainian Peace Formula and prepare for the Global Peace Summit.

"The latest crimes of the aggressor have confirmed that the Ukrainian Peace Formula is more relevant than ever. We must stop Russia's terror," the President emphasized.

The two leaders also touched upon issues of bilateral cooperation and Ukraine's reconstruction. Fumio Kishida confirmed readiness to hold a conference on Ukraine's reconstruction in Japan early next year.
