Volodymyr Zelenskyy Held a Telephone Conversation with Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a telephone conversation with Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Olaf Scholz on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day.

The Ukrainian leader expressed his condolences over the tragedy in Solingen, Germany, which occurred during the festival on August 23.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the Chancellor for his congratulations to the Ukrainian people on Independence Day and for his country's significant comprehensive assistance, especially in strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities.

“Thank you for two and a half years of German leadership. It is very important for us to have reliable friends who will stand by us until we achieve a just and lasting peace,” the President said.

The Head of State informed Olaf Scholz of the situation on the frontline and the current needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, particularly in armored vehicles and air defense systems.

The parties also coordinated cooperation and further contacts within the Ramstein framework.

The leaders discussed further funding of defense assistance to Ukraine and the use of frozen assets of the Russian Federation for the needs of our country.

The President thanked Germany for its participation in the first thematic online conference on energy security held on August 22 as part of the preparations for the second Peace Summit.

The parties also discussed further steps to implement the agreements reached at the first Peace Summit in Switzerland.
