President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with President of Argentina Javier Milei.
The Head of State congratulated Javier Milei and all the people of Argentina on Christmas, Hanukkah, and the upcoming New Year.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he had recently, together with the rabbis of Ukraine, lit the Hanukkah menorah presented by Javier Milei at his inauguration in Buenos Aires a year ago.
“Ukraine's light is capable of defeating the darkness brought by Russia if we have friends like Argentina,” the President said.
The Ukrainian leader praised Argentina's success in economic reforms, liberalization of foreign trade, and control of inflation, saying that it was the result that inspired everyone.
The President of Ukraine expressed his particular gratitude to Argentina for the important steps taken to support our country during the first year of Javier Milei's presidency: participation in the inaugural Peace Summit and joining the Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, the International Crimea Platform and the Ramstein format.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine needs the continued functioning of the Defense Contact Group, along with the joint efforts from Argentina, the USA, and all allies, to weaken the Russian dictator and end the war with a just and lasting peace.
He also described the December 20 shelling by the Russian Federation, which damaged foreign embassies, including that of Argentina.
Javier Milei assured that Ukraine can rely on Argentina's full support in the future.
The leaders also discussed economic cooperation development, including the reactivation of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and the initiation of intergovernmental consultations.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy invited the President of Argentina to visit Ukraine.
