President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone call with President of France Emmanuel Macron. During the lengthy conversation, the leaders discussed a number of bilateral issues.
The Head of State thanked Emmanuel Macron for France's comprehensive support for Ukraine, particularly for the recent defense assistance package.
"It is important that all our agreements on strengthening defense support from France are being implemented. I really appreciate it," Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
The leaders discussed the situation on the battlefield and the most urgent needs of Ukrainian defenders, primarily in terms of strengthening air defense, long-range weapons, and increasing Ukraine's naval capabilities. They also exchanged views on the functioning of the "grain corridor" and ways to enhance its protection.
In the context of discussing Ukraine's cooperation with the EU, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Emmanuel Macron touched upon the issues of further macro-financial support for our country, in particular through the use of the Ukraine Facility new financial instrument. The Head of State emphasized the importance of making a decision to launch negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union.
Special attention was paid to further steps to implement the Ukrainian Peace Formula. Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed about the preparation of the next meeting at the level of national security advisors and foreign policy advisors to the heads of state.
The Presidents of Ukraine and France also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East. The leaders emphasized the importance of protecting civilians and the inadmissibility of escalating the security situation in the region.
