President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with U.S. President Joseph Biden.
The Head of State expressed his condolences over the wildfires in California, which have resulted in tragic losses, and acknowledged the heroism of Americans who are helping to save lives from the flames and prevent fire from spreading.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his particular gratitude for the support of our state and independence and for uniting the international community. Joint efforts enabled the creation of a global coalition of defenders of freedom and the principles of international peace and security.
During the conversation, the parties discussed the details of the new U.S. sanctions package targeting Russia’s energy sector, which helps Putin bankroll the war. The Head of State highlighted that the United States imposed these sanctions against Russia's shadow tanker fleet and companies such as Gazprom Neft and Surgutneftegas, which tunnel funds for the Russian dictator personally.
The President of Ukraine thanked America, both political parties, and both chambers of Congress for supporting the entirely justified pressure on Russia for its unprovoked and criminal aggression against our state and people.
Special attention was paid to the situation on the battlefield, the need to further strengthen Ukraine's air shield and protect lives in Ukrainian cities and villages from Russian terror – daily missile and drone strikes.
Joseph Biden emphasized that preserving and protecting Ukraine's independence is critical for all of Europe and for the democratic world.
