President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting on the situation in the Kursk region. The meeting was attended by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk, Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko and Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets.
The Minister of Internal Affairs reported on the humanitarian aspects of the assistance to the Ukrainian Defense Forces and the provision of security in the border communities of our country, as well as in the relevant districts of the Kursk region.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced that in case of need military commandant's offices will be established in the Kursk region.
Iryna Vereshchuk and Dmytro Lubinets informed the participants about the humanitarian aid supplies to the settlements of the Kursk region controlled by Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine, in exercising its right to self-defense and in defending the lives of people in the border communities of our country, is taking active steps on Russian territory, but the Ukrainian Defense Forces strictly adhere to the requirements of international conventions and international humanitarian law.
