After the beginning of work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the IX convocation, a new Prosecutor General will be appointed, with the authority to replace local prosecutors. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a meeting with representatives of the Cherkasy region, when some participants of the conversation had complained about the work of the prosecutor of the region Serhiy Ovcharenko.
"I find it difficult to say anything about the Prosecutor. First, I don't know this person. Second, we will appoint a new Prosecutor General. We are going to do this when a new Verkhovna Rada starts its work. And his task will be to change all prosecutors. Let the Prosecutor General deal with this issue," the President stressed.
The Head of State also said that his powers do not include the appointment and dismissal of local prosecutors.
