President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the Law "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine on Improving the Legal Protection of Geographical Indications" №123-IX approved by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on September 20, 2019.
The Law provides the improvement of legal regulation of relations in intellectual property on the legal protection of geographical indications by amending the Economic and Civil Codes of Ukraine accordingly, the Law of Ukraine " On Protection of Rights to Indication of Goods Origin", the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine "On State Duty".
Implementation of this law will facilitate the adaptation of the acts of the national legislation to the European Union law, as well as the fulfillment of obligations undertaken by Ukraine in accordance with the Association Agreement with the European Union.
