During a working trip to the Chernivtsi region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Ridkivtsi secondary school and got himself acquainted with the implementation of the National Program "Great Construction" in the region.
Currently, 548 pupils study in buildings built in the late XIX century. Therefore, there is an urgent need to build a new school building.
Serhiy Osachuk, Head of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration, briefed the President on the construction of a new school building. The Head of State inspected one of the classes, small and large gyms. The RSA Head promised Volodymyr Zelenskyy to complete the repair work in the school by September 1.
Serhiy Osachuk also asked the President to help finance the construction of the Lukodrom of Olympic Skills. This complex is planned to be built in the framework of the President's project on construction of sports "magnets" in each region. Its estimated budget is UAH 43 million. A design and estimate documentation and a site where a complex can be built have been already prepared.
"Among our athletes are world and European champions. But the Olympians are not just athletes who shoot a bow very well. And that's why we decided that we have a good sports school, coaches. And we can train new Olympians on the example of our archers," the Head of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration said.
Regarding the restoration of roads in the region in the framework of the "Great Construction" program, Serhiy Osachuk said that all tenders have been held and completed so far.
In the Chernivtsi region, 50 km of local and 70-80 km of state roads will be repaired and built this year.
"To date, a total of more than 1 billion hryvnias has been allocated for state and local roads in the region," the RSA Head said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted the importance of road construction in Ukraine and the Chernivtsi region in particular.
"Before my presidency, I was ashamed to travel around Ukraine because of the quality of roads. There were no roads. This year, you know, we will build more than four thousand kilometers of roads. Now the work is in process," the Head of State stressed, adding that it is many times more than in previous years.
The President noted that the Ministry of Infrastructure and Ukravtodor are working to achieve a fundamentally different level of road service and quality in Ukraine in five years.
