Volodymyr Zelenskyy inspected the reconstruction of the village of Lanchyn in the Ivano-Frankivsk region damaged by floods in the summer

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy began a working trip to the Ivano-Frankivsk region with a visit to the village of Lanchyn, which was damaged by floods in June this year. The Head of State inspected the progress of work to restore the infrastructure destroyed by floods.

In particular, the part of the road T-09-05 Delyatyn - Rakivchyk, which passes through the village, was destroyed.

As Head of the Ivano-Frankivsk RSA Vitaliy Fedoriv told the President, after the arrival of the Head of State in Lanchyn immediately after the natural disaster in the summer, the village received significant assistance, including charitable. The "Onur" company agreed to carry out restoration work on the damaged central road.

"The sewerage system was restored in a short time, and modern lighting was installed. According to our estimates (according to the "Onur" company), almost 50 million hryvnias were invested and 3.2 kilometers of road were built. This assistance is very important and strategic, as it will increase the flow of transport to Kolomyya, Snyatyn and the Chernivtsi region, and will promote development - the construction of new cafes and hotels. This road also runs in the direction of Bukovel," Vitaliy Fedoriv said.

The representative of the community thanked Volodymyr Zelenskyy that with his help the consequences of the natural disaster in the village were eliminated so quickly and the infrastructure restoration works were carried out.

After inspecting the reconstructed road in Lanchyn, the President talked to local residents. They thanked for the new road in the village and support in overcoming the consequences of the flood. At the same time, residents of this and surrounding villages noted that despite the large amount of work done and assistance provided, many questions remain open, as this year's flood was the largest of all that people remember.

The inhabitants of Krasne complained that the repair of the bridge destroyed by the flood was not completed in the village. According to them, schoolchildren go to classes every day across a dangerous half-assembled bridge without railings. People are afraid that they will not have time to complete the crossing before the beginning of autumn rains and winter, which will make it even more dangerous.

Also, according to villagers, roads were not restored everywhere. In particular, people appealed to the President to assist in the reconstruction of the local road Nadvirna - Lanchyn.

According to the Head of the Ivano-Frankivsk RSA, repair works on the 15 km long section are planned to be carried out by the end of 2021, and this year only 5 km will be reconstructed due to lack of funding.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for resolving all problematic issues related to the reconstruction of this road.

Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Kyrylo Tymoshenko promised that the road would be completed.

There were also complaints about the assessment of the extent of damage and the provision of compensation. According to people, the amount of funds received often did not correspond to losses.

The issue of providing gas, which has not been available in some districts of the region for years, as well as drinking water, is also relevant for local residents.

A total of 1,457 facilities in the Ivano-Frankivsk region were destroyed by floods in the summer. For the most part, the elimination of consequences of the disaster is not carried out due to lack of funds. To solve the problem, in early August, the regional state administration wrote a letter to the Prime Minister of Ukraine regarding the additional allocation of funds in the amount of UAH 1.5 billion.

Therefore, the President stressed that the Cabinet of Ministers should respond to the appeal as soon as possible and assist in resolving the issue.

Following the communication with people, Volodymyr Zelenskyy commissioned the RSA Head to personally visit all settlements and propose solutions to the issues raised.

In addition, at the insistence of the Head of State, regional and local authorities should accelerate the pace of work, especially in terms of construction of dams and restoration of road access.

Head of the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov reported to the President that in the framework of the National Program “Great Construction” 148 km of state roads were planned to be repaired in the Ivano-Frankivsk region this year, but the plan was adjusted and about 180 km will be completed.

“The main project is the H-09 highway (Mukachevo - Ivano-Frankivsk - Lviv - ed.), which goes from the Zakarpattia region. This year we are building more than 180 kilometers in two regions. There are still two projects that we are just starting. This is the H-18 route, which will connect the Ivano-Frankivsk region with Ternopil, and M-12, which we are also starting to restore in the region," Oleksandr Kubrakov said.

In total, there are 1,010 km of state roads in the region. According to the Head of Ukravtodor, in some districts of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, in particular in Verkhovyna, all roads have already been built. Next year, they plan to complete the restoration of all roads in the region that need repair.
