President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy inspected the construction of highways in the Kherson region in the framework of the National Great Construction Program and got himself acquainted with the work of the Consul size-weight control point on the M-14 Odesa-Melitopol-Novoazovsk highway.
The Head of State told the reporters that he was not satisfied with everything because the complex did not work properly.
"Indeed, cars drive. The number of recorded violations increased by 65% compared to previous years. I have no questions for people who do their job professionally. But this is not yet the operation we are conducting in several other regions. There is no comprehensive approach here yet," the President said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that due to imperfect legislation, even if an overloaded vehicle is found, it cannot be detained, so after the fine is imposed, it continues to drive and further destroy the roads.
"I think it's wrong, and it won't solve the problem. That is why in some regions we already have the police and the Security Service. They just don't allow people to go any further - they start unloading them. Such a comprehensive approach is needed until the legislation is settled," the President said.
Head of the Kherson Regional State Administration Yurii Husiev stated that a special operation was being launched in the region today to intensify size-weight control.
"We will do it with the participation of representatives of other regions. And we are intensifying the work of cargo complexes," he said.
Regarding the implementation of the National Program "Great Construction", the President was informed that this year the region plans to commission five schools, five kindergartens, six stadiums and sports grounds. Currently, specialists are actively working on nine sites.
As of June 23, UAH 53.6 million was received from the state budget for the implementation of projects.
The main directions of road repair according to the route principle were also determined. In particular, construction works are planned on the sections of the highway M-14 Odesa - Melitopol - Novoazovsk, on the roads R-47 Kherson - Nova Kakhovka - Henichesk, R-57 Oleshky - Hola Prystan - Skadovsk and T-04-03 Maryanske - Beryslav - / P-47 /.
"In 10 years - from 2010 to 2020 - the total cost and kilometers of roads were less than we build in 2020. I think this is a great result. 177 kilometers of roads of state importance in the Kherson region. There are a lot of projects on local roads as well,” Chairman of the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov noted.
