During a working visit to Lithuania, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Vice President, Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis.
The interlocutors noted the importance of the first in the history of bilateral relations visit of the President of Switzerland who paid a state visit to Ukraine in July last year.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed the Swiss party about the process of implementing reforms in Ukraine and thanked Switzerland for its decision to co-organize the next Conference on Reforms in Ukraine.
"It is gratifying that the Fifth Conference on Reforms in Ukraine in July 2022 will take place in Switzerland. The Government of Ukraine is ready to closely cooperate in holding it," the President said.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
"Switzerland is an important trade and economic partner of Ukraine in Europe and is in the top-10 European countries in terms of trade turnover. We also appreciate the fact that Switzerland is one of the largest investors in Ukraine's economy," Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
The President of Ukraine called on the Swiss party to further attract large-scale investments and implement promising projects in various sectors of the economy.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Ignazio Cassis for his firm support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He noted the importance of maintaining the sanctions regime and international pressure on Russia in order to make real progress in a peaceful settlement.
The President expressed hope for an active role of Switzerland in ensuring the activities of the Crimean Platform and commended the confirmation of the high level of participation of the Swiss party in its inaugural summit and celebrations on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence.
