Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed the issue of combating coronavirus with newly appointed Ambassador of China to Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a meeting with newly appointed Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Ukraine Fan Xianrong.

The Head of State noted that Fan Xianrong already has an experience as a diplomat in our country, and today, on his birthday, he started fulfilling his duties as Ambassador of China to Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Fan Xianrong and wished him good health.

“I want to wish you and your people health. Today, health is fundamentally important for the entire world, which is fighting coronavirus,” the President said.

The Head of State noted the efforts of the Chinese authorities, which made it possible to stabilize the situation with the spread of coronavirus.

He emphasized Ukraine's interest in studying Chinese experience of dealing with the disease and establishing an exchange of information with Chinese medical experts.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for the medical equipment received from China and noted personal assistance of the Chinese Ambassador in this issue.

The President appealed to the Chinese government to provide additional assistance to Ukraine: necessary test systems, medical equipment and pharmaceuticals.

The Head of State expressed gratitude for China's unwavering position on maintaining Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The parties also discussed the possibilities of further development of Ukrainian-Chinese trade and economic cooperation.

The interlocutors noted that China is one of Ukraine's major trading partners, with bilateral trade totaling $ 12.8 billion in 2019 and having prospects for further increase.

In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China the possibility of attracting investments from China to Ukraine, in particular for the implementation of infrastructure projects.
