President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Dr. Kunio Mikuriya.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Head of the President’s Office of Ukraine Andriy Sybiha and Yulia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Minister of Finance Denys Uliutyn, Head of the State Customs Service Pavlo Riabikin.
The President emphasized that the support of international partners is very important for Ukraine regarding the reforms.
"Regarding customs reform, I do not lose hope to reform the Ukrainian customs, and this is one of my priorities. Indeed, there are many questions about our customs, service and transparency of customs procedures," said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
At the same time, the Head of State noted that the Ukrainian customs service is changing, the budget revenues from its work are increasing, and this indicates that some processes became more transparent.
For his part, the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization emphasized the importance of supporting a stable process of reforming the Ukrainian customs, which has already shown success.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the World Customs Organization, a member of which Ukraine has been since 1992, has been helping the country in educational programs for training specialists for customs for years. But, according to him, Ukraine would like more help.
"We are talking about a system of training specialists, technological processes, support for ensuring the transparency of the customs," the President said.
Kunio Mikuriya expressed readiness to provide experts from the World Customs Organization for the methodological support of reform and their involvement in the training and improvement of the professional level of employees of the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
