Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed Ukraine's defense needs, preparation of bilateral document on security commitments with Emmanuel Macron

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone call with President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of the French humanitarian workers killed by a Russian strike in Kherson region and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded.

The Head of the Ukrainian state thanked France for its staunch support from President Emmanuel Macron's administration and French society.

The leaders of the two states discussed the current situation on the battlefield and Ukraine's defense needs, including drones, artillery systems and ammunition, electronic warfare means, and various types of air defense systems, both portable and long-range.

The President of Ukraine highly appreciated the initiation of a coalition to strengthen Ukraine's artillery by France and the United States, under which Paris will transfer dozens of Caesar artillery systems and ammunition to Ukraine.

The heads of state also discussed the development of a bilateral document on providing security commitments within the framework of the Vilnius Declaration of the G7.

According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the active preparation of bilateral security agreements by leading European countries demonstrates Europe's leadership, motivates Ukrainian society and soldiers, and sends powerful signals to Russia regarding Europe's unwavering support for Ukraine.

The Presidents of Ukraine and France also coordinated the calendar of future joint events.
