President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone call with Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak.
The Head of State informed his interlocutor about Russia's daily attacks on Odesa, its attempts to destroy the city's historic center and port infrastructure. Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine urgently needs to strengthen its air defense system to defend its UNESCO-protected historical heritage and to continue the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
"We must protect Odesa," the President emphasized.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Rishi Sunak discussed further defense cooperation. The Head of State spoke about the course of offensive operations of the defense forces and conveyed information on the current defense needs of Ukraine.
The interlocutors noted the adoption by the G7 at the NATO Summit in Vilnius of the Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine and the accession of other countries to it. The parties coordinated future steps to fill it with concrete security guarantees for our country on a bilateral basis.
