Volodymyr Zelenskyy discusses with Rishi Sunak strengthening of Ukraine's armed forces, functioning of grain corridor

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone call with Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak.

The Head of State expressed gratitude to the British government for their strong words of support for Ukraine, which were heard in the British Parliament on October 23.

The President also thanked the United Kingdom for its timely and multi-sectoral assistance, including the recent defense support package of GBP 100 million.

The participants discussed in detail the situation on the front lines.

"Russia will continue to attempt to occupy the entire Donbas. The occupiers have made several attempts to encircle Avdiyivka, but our soldiers have consistently stopped them and pushed them back, inflicting significant losses. In these attempts, the enemy has lost at least one brigade," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom discussed further defense cooperation, particularly regarding strengthening the Ukrainian air defense system with missiles and anti-drone capabilities.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed Rishi Sunak about the situation in the Black Sea and Russia's actions that pose a danger to civilian navigation.

According to the Head of State, despite all threats, the grain corridor will continue to operate. The participants discussed ongoing efforts to implement insurance for civilian vessels.

The leaders also exchanged assessments of the situation in the Middle East and agreed that de-escalating the conflict would be in the interests of the international community.

Furthermore, the parties coordinated their positions regarding their cooperation on the international platforms and the preservation of international support for Ukraine.
