Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Giorgia Meloni discussed joint efforts in the context of Italy's G7 Presidency next year

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone call with Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni.

The Head of State thanked the Prime Minister of Italy for the principled and comprehensive support from Italy and her personal leadership.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope that the Italian presidency of the Group of Seven next year would bring even more significant results. The President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Italy coordinated future joint efforts in the context of Italy's G7 Presidency and agreed to start working on bilateral security guarantees in the framework of the G7 Joint Declaration adopted in Vilnius.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Giorgia Meloni also discussed further security cooperation, in particular the implementation of the 8th defense support package.

The Head of State emphasized the need to speed up the adoption of the 12th EU sanctions package on Russia.

"We must continue to increase pressure on the aggressor. It is important to speed up the preparation of a new package of sanctions, especially in the sectors that are most sensitive for the Russian economy. It is also important to continue working on the mechanism of using the proceeds from the frozen assets of the Russian Federation," the President noted.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Italy for its support of the Peace Formula, in particular for the participation of the Italian representative in the meeting of national security and political advisors in Malta, and invited Giorgia Meloni to take part in the second “Grain From Ukraine” summit.
