On the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighted Ukraine's great contribution to the victory over Nazism.
"Today the world celebrates the 75th anniversary of the official end of World War II. You know, it is impossible to overestimate the contribution that our country, our people and, in particular, Kharkiv residents made to the victory over Nazism,” the President said during a presentation of the Kharkiv region Development Strategy until 2027 as part of the working trip to the Kharkiv Region.
The President noted that thousands of Ukrainian soldiers fought the enemy on the frontline, and the legendary T-34 tank, which disrupted the Nazis' plans and changed the course of the war, was created in Kharkiv by a team of designers led by prominent Mykhailo Koshkin.
"Let's thank everyone who defended their native beautiful land 75 years ago! And, of course, we are always grateful to all our servicemen who defend the country in the east today," Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
He noted that today is the 39th day that Ukraine has no combat losses on the frontline.
"And on the day of the official end of World War II, as on every other day, we all believe that peace will finally come to our land. This is an indispensable precondition for the further construction of a powerful, modern, happy Ukraine. A country of happy people," the Head of State summed up.
