President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the ceasefire in the country's east and the return of the Ukrainian Crimea and Donbas are the main priorities of his team. He told this in his inaugural speech during a solemn parliamentary session.
“Our primary task is ceasefire in Donbas. I can assure: I am willing to do everything for our heroes not to die anymore. And I am definitely not afraid to make difficult decisions. I am ready to lose my post without hesitation for peace to be established. But without losing our territory," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
He also noted that he was ready for the dialogue to end the war.
"And I am sure that the first step towards starting this dialogue will be the return of all our captives," he said in Russian.
The President of Ukraine is convinced that the next step should be the return of the lost territories. For this purpose, first of all, we should appeal to the consciousness of the residents of the occupied part of Donbas and annexed Crimea.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also turned to the military.
"There can be no strong army where the authorities do not respect the people who give life for the country every day. I will do everything to make you feel esteemed. This is worthy, and most importantly - stable financial support, your living conditions, legal vacation after the fulfilment of combat missions, rest for you and your families. We must not talk about NATO standards, but to create these standards," the Head of State stressed.
