Volodymyr Zelenskyy: We must protect the right of every national minority to know their language, but all citizens of Ukraine must know Ukrainian

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasizes that the language issue does not exist in Ukraine. The Head of State is hopeful to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Hungary.

"We have many different minorities. This is a type of country we have. So many borders. This is our history. We must protect the rights and opportunities of every minority to know their language. For many, it is not Ukrainian. For example, when we talk about Berehove," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during a press conference in Kyiv.

At the same time, the Head of State believes that every citizen of Ukraine must know the Ukrainian language.

The President reminded that Ukraine has complicated relations with Hungary due to the issue of studying the language of a national minority. However, he expressed hope that this problem would be solved in the near future.

"Mr. Orbán (Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán) has been willing to hold a meeting with me over the past year. I am ready for this fundamental meeting, at which I would like us to sign a memorandum between Ukraine and Hungary. A memorandum on everything: security situation and respect for history," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Speaking of the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas, the President noted that local residents are grateful for the launch of the Russian-language TV channel "Dim", which shows video lessons of the "Nationwide Online School".

"No other high-quality school is being broadcasted in the temporarily occupied territory. We know that. We do receive a report. That is why I am very glad that our "Dim" started working," he said.
