Helping to save SMEs during and after the coronavirus epidemic is one of the key tasks of the government. This was discussed at a meeting, chaired by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, attended by representatives of the government and the banking sector.
“Small and medium businesses suffer the most today because they cannot work and do not have a large financial cushion. Business is about jobs and taxes,” the Head of State emphasized.
The parties discussed the creation of tools for lending to new entrepreneurs and supporting the existing ones through repayment holidays and offsetting interest on loans so as not to increase the number of overdue loans.
The President also noted that new tools should show the entrepreneurs that it is beneficial to be “white”.
“The world has changed. It is not beneficial to work in the shadows today. Employment should be stimulated by preventing uncontrolled inflation,” Advisor to the Head of the Presidential Office for Banking Affairs Viktoria Strakhova noted.
“We need to create new and revise the existing support programs, that is, to extend support to those already working in different fields. Saving business now is to let the country breathe and live in the future,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy concluded.
In the coming days, the participants of the meeting will present effective programs to support Ukrainian entrepreneurship.
